Graduates of Technological University of the Shannon are now eligible to register to vote in Seanad Éireann elections, following recent legislative changes.

A Supreme Court decision, along with the passing of the Seanad Electoral (University Members) (Amendment) Bill 2024, has led to the creation of a new Higher Education constituency, significantly expanding the number of graduates who can participate in Seanad elections.

TUS alumni are eligible to register if they:

  • Are Irish citizens
  • Are aged 18 or over
  • Hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree from a designated institution

Graduates can register only once, even if they hold multiple degrees.

The deadline to apply to be included on the register is 26th February 2026, and the register will be published on 1st June 2026.

This change means thousands more graduates now have a direct voice in the election of senators. Eligible alumni are encouraged to register and take part.

Further information and registration details are available at SeanadVoter.ie.
