As part of our ongoing Alumni Archive initiative, we’re revisiting moments from across our campuses that reflect the impact and community of what is now Technological University of the Shannon.

In 2014, Richard Lynch documented the Leadership and Advocacy Graduation at what was then Limerick Institute of Technology. The programme, developed through collaboration between social care and lifelong learning teams, created meaningful opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to experience college life.

Students engaged in modules focused on advocacy, leadership, citizenship and communication, while also participating in projects that connected them with the wider community. The programme was designed to empower participants, supporting them to better understand their rights and to play an active role in society.

More than a celebration of achievement, the graduation reflected the inclusive ethos of the institution and the importance of widening access to education.

We are currently building our TUS Alumni Archive and would love to include more moments like this. If you have photographs, programmes or memories from your time at TUS or its legacy institutions, please share them with us at alumni@tus.ie.
