Limerick City Gallery of Art is set to open Cuimhníodh (remembered), an exhibition celebrating the work and legacy of two highly respected Irish artists, David Lilburn (1950–2021) and Jim Savage (1950–2019).

The exhibition brings together work produced throughout their careers, showcasing the breadth of their practices across drawing, printmaking and painting. Both artists made a significant contribution to the Irish and Limerick art scenes and were particularly recognised for their commitment to drawing as a central artistic practice, as well as their advocacy for its importance within printmaking.

As artists, collaborators, publishers and curators, Lilburn and Savage played an important role in the development and promotion of contemporary art in Limerick and beyond. Cuimhníodh offers an opportunity to reflect on their work, influence and enduring contribution to the artistic community.

The exhibition will officially open on Saturday, 19 September 2026, from 2–5pm, with opening words from artist Dorothy Cross and art critic and writer Aidan Dunne.

The exhibition runs at Limerick City Gallery of Art from 19 September to 8 November 2026.
